For Gareth Jones, the lead vocalist of the indie rock band People in
Planes, being on tour is one of the main positives of his job. “We’re just so excited to be out on the road,” says the 27-year-old. “We’re really psyched.” .
And with the upcoming Canadian release of their album Beyond the Horizon in August, the band has a chance to do what they love the most – travelling and playing songs to fans across the nation.
Songs which Jones says will be very different from the band’s previous work. For one, the production has higher standards. "We also learned to play a lot better and our experience in the road influences the music," he says.
People in Planes recently toured to major cities in Canada including Vancouver, Victoria, Ottawa and Toronto. .
“It was great as we missed playing out on shows,” says Jones.
He and the band are already looking to the future. They hope to play in festivals around Canada and the U.K. Fans who want more also might not wait as long for their next album, Jones says that the band is planning to go back into the studio in the near future.
