The rain has finally stopped but that doesn’t mean the sounds of Much Music prepping for their annual Much Music Awards has ceased. I was running late and the crowds gathering around the barrier would not part. It's shocking to see parents lined up for their kids at 9 p.m. for a show that doesn't start until tomorrow night.

I finally arrived at the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern for the Sirius/CBC3 Radio showcase. The place was packed with a mixture of indie scenesters and a more mature crowd. I managed to catch Rebekah Higgs from Halifax, NS. What makes this indie artist worth watching is her interesting microphone technique where she used two microphones to make her voice sound like it was echoing. And since Mutedmag.com is a fashion magazine as well as music, I must comment on Rebekah Higgs’ outfit. Although I find jean dresses to be slightly outdated, Higgs managed to pull it off and throw in a black waist belt giving herself a more vintage look.

After Higgs packed up the xylophone and the many instruments that accompanied her on the stage, it was finally time for Spiral Beach. I can only say one thing about their performance: WOW. I heard about this band while surfing through Myspace one day and was shocked to hear them on the Edge 102.1.
