Work it Girl

This week has been crazy, complete chaos. Shows round the clock, day in and day out. I’ve been walking for Benetton, Chloe and Loewe and Stephan Dou in some of the most prestigious and famous venues ever seen. For all you Muted readers out there, here’s an insider peek into my worldwind romance and love affair with the city of Taipei.

My legs are beginning to burn. I have no idea how or where to go for my next show. I’m late and no one seems to want to pick me up. Now, I don’t want you guys to get the wrong idea, I was only late for my next show because the last show ran over the allotted time. The overtime is why I’m running around looking for a taxi in the middle of the afternoon completely stressed out.

I look down at my watch and feel my heart literally sink. I’ve been working since 8:00 a.m. this morning and have very little patience for these drivers that continue to speed past me. What am I going to do? I readjust the models handbag and heels I’m holding and take deep breath.

Oh, a taxi is coming, thank god! I flail my arms around hoping to attract him. He notices me and pulls over. I dive in to the cab and pass over the sheet that has the address for the show. He starts off and I realise that my heart isn’t beating so fast anymore. Life of a model is more hectic that most people think.

I’m late! This is not good. Finally I get to the show and men with camera’s are everywhere. Taking pictures anywhere they can, one even took an awkward one of me losing my shoe while running up the escalator. My first taste of what celebrities feel like. They jostle each other while trying to get close enough to take my picture and actually run after me as I make my escape backstage. Word gets around fast in Taipei and being the only Black girl to be doing his show, ever, naturally attracts quite a bit of attention.

Later on after my third bottle of water, sixth outfit change and second pair of stilettos I walk out to do some interviews.

I was so happy to hear that Stephan Dou applauded my walk that night. I was scared during my 400 foot strut down the runway and was relieved that Dou loved it.

After the show camera men and TV stations stole pictures of me backstage. I had the pleasure of meeting a reporter named Rachel. She was a guest celebrity in the show and helped me translate some of my interviews for the other reporters.

I must admit though that all that stuff pales in comparison to being on stage and seeing all my roommates. It was great seeing all of them. The fact that they cams and thought I was good enough to be called a SUPERMODEL means everything. It was the only recognition I needed.

Thanks guys...

To Marko, Lindsay and Agne. BFF for ever...

Love Renee
